ANOTHER RECORD-BREAKING WEEK FOR ‘THE AVENGERS’
‘The Avengers’ scored another record-breaking week at the U.S. box-office, grossing $103.2 million, making it the first movie to ever make over $100 million in its second week in theaters. Takings for the superhero movie are expected to surpass $1 billion worldwide after just 19 days of release.
‘The Avengers” global box office takings have already surpassed the global box-office totals of related films, ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’ ($364 million), ‘Thor’ ($449 million), ‘Iron Man’ ($585 million) and ‘Iron Man 2′ ($624 million). The Avengers movie has become the most successful superhero movie of all time, beating out Spiderman and Batman’s ‘Dark Knight’ franchise. Joss Whedon’s superhero picture has propelled Disney’s film division to No. 1 in the U.S. market share as of Sunday.
